Schaller strap locks vs dunlop
WebMar 27, 2011 · Dunlop strap pieces uses a cliplock ring, which doesn't ever work itself loose; the schaller uses bolts, which can loosen as the strap ages. The guitar piece has a wide flange, so if you are in a bind and have to use a regular strap with it, it works ok. The schallers have no flange, you have to have a schaller-equipped strap.

The lock is a safeguard. Other models (Dunlop, etc.) rely on the lock to remain secured, in order to hold the guitar. There is no secondary backup.
