WebI quit 18 months in on estrogen, was on patches with a low dose for 6 months then onto progynova pills with a low dose for another 12 months, also had progesterone and yeah, managed to quit thanks to both E2 and p4 together (turns out progesterone may help with nicotine cravings thanks to some research i found).

WebJun 22, 2012 · Most SRS surgeons have you stop taking hormones 2-3 weeks before surgery and as far as I know, it's "cold turkey", I was never advised otherwise. I've stopped hormones twice in my life without tapering off with no ill effects. I've been on them for years now and no hot flashes so far nor mood swings. If you doctor is simply wanting you to take a break from HRT to see how you cope then it may not make much difference whether you go cold turkey or wean off over several months - the result will probably be the same.
